The church with the warm heart

Sunday School

During Lent, we will be learning about different symbols of Christianity, such as the cross, ichthus, and seashell.

Children meet for Sunday School on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45. Preschoolers go to their classroom, elementary age children meet in rooms 5&6 for Sunday School.

Preschool:
Our preschoolers enjoy Sunday School with the same teacher each week. We use the United Methodist Exploring Faith Curriculum. There is time for play, story, music, and more each Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m.

Elementary:
We have Journey Land Sunday School for kindergarten through 5th grade. Our elementary age children enjoy rotation Sunday School from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Children meet in the rooms 5&6 at 9:45 on Sunday mornings for Gathering Time which includes announcements, a short lesson about our subject, videos, and music. We have a class for each grade level. Each class has a shepherd who is a volunteer adult who is with the class each week.

Our Journey Land Sunday School covers one Bible story or theme for 5-6 weeks. Each week the children journey with their shepherd from Gathering Time to a different workshop. Each workshop explores the story or theme using different activities such as storytelling, cooking, computer lab, art, games, science lab, and music. Children look forward to being a part of Sunday School and after covering a story for 5 weeks, the children really know their Bible stories.

There are pocket charts hanging in both hallways to let parents know in which room their child has spent the morning. Children should be picked up from the room by 10:45.

How can you help?
We need adults to lead our workshops that last 5-6 weeks.  You prepare and reteach the same material to different age children each week. To volunteer, contact Lydia Locke,lydia.locke@aldersgate.ws
